On the PalmPilot pages...Other PalmPilot ApplicationsGraphicsThe PalmPilot can also be used in a limited way to view 4 level greyscale images that are up to 460 X 460 pixels in size. Among the applications available to display graphics on a PalmPilot are: Image Viewer (shareware), Spec (freeware), and Tiny Viewer (no registration required). Armed with one of these programs (I use Tiny Viewer), you can check out the following:
Another graphics application for the PalmPilot is TealPaint, which offers a multitude of features for painting, sketching, editing, managing, and animating images. Its operation is somewhat different, as are (apparently) the file formats. The program works with graphics that measure 160 x (at least) 144 pixels in size. These graphics, which can be maintained in multi-image databases, can be used in other TealPoint applications, notably TealInfo. TealInfoAs of yet, this application is in a class by itself, and it's pretty nifty to boot. Quoting TealPoint's Web page: "TealInfo is like a reference library at your fingertips. It's a browser for TealInfo data 'Folios' which are made up of interactive lists, tables, images, checkboxes, outlines, and popup windows of information; perfect for catalogs, reference tables or simple applications." The description is pretty accurate, and TealPoint's Web site is a magnet for a growing library of new folios that run the gamut from useful to illustrative.
Tapping the "Cyrillic" button will bring up a popup window with the station's name in Cyrillic (you'll need a Palm Russifier program to view this properly). Tapping the "Transfers" button brings up a popup window with information about transfers to other lines, or whether a station is a line or terminal station. NOTE: The application does not map out instructions for getting from point A to point B. The TealPaint image database that comes with this folio is about 450 KB in size, which makes it a good candidate for inclusion in the "free" space on your unit's flash ROM (you'll need something like FlashBuilder to do that). This application does not provide all of the functionality I'd like to see, but it's powerful enough to solve some simple, but pesky problems. |
